Woody 3(1)

Angelica Lactone α

Angelica Lactone α is a lactone aroma compound with warm, creamy, slightly caramel and root notes, often used to enhance the naturalness, thickness, and realism of a fragrance. In formulations, it plays more of a “texture shaper” role than a primary fragrance source.

Type

Woody

The aroma is soft and understated, presenting a subtle creamy, caramel sweetness and rooty notes, with a hint of earthiness and powderiness. It effectively reduces the chemical feel of the formula, making the overall scent closer to the natural ingredients.

Acquisition Methods

Natural extraction or chemical synthesis

Angelica Lactone α can be found in trace amounts in natural Angelica sinensis root, but in industrial applications it is mainly produced through the lactone reaction of unsaturated carboxylic acid derivatives to ensure purity, stability and supply consistency.
